Annual Staff Appraisals


It is a requirement of the University that all staff are appraised for the purposes of performance and personal development each year. The forms themselves are retained in the department, but the department has to report on dates that appraisals were completed. The department also supplies a list (not personalised) of any training requirements identified so that HR can consider courses to provide.

Appraisals of academic staff are conducted by the HOD or representative. The HOD also appraises the Computer Officer, Senior Technician, and Departmental Administrator. The Departmental Administrator appraises the administrators and the Senior Technician appraises the Technicians. Academic Staff are responsible for appraising their contracted research staff.

The forms are available on the HR website. Staff may draft these before a meeting or complete the form during the meeting discussion.
